@matizzle32 HENDRIX is definatly the best guitarist ever in my opinion, although i would disagree that he is the most technically gifted and i think thats his appeal he's all about the feeling in the way he plays not necceserilly getting evrything perfect. The guys saying that hedrix wasnt amazing though need to learn what their talking about

Yes...perhaps not the most technically sound player but I have listened to players that were technically superior but lacked "that sound". That only comes with passion and soul and Santana has that in aces. I'd rather listen to player rip a beat up ugly ass ax than a juilliard caliber virtuoso "technically" kill a rare guitar worth $10k.

Santana has got to be in the great catagory, he may not be technically great but he's played with the best and is still playing with the best out there. ( Benson, Maclaughlin, Herbie Hancock and the list goes on.

@boluvsjo i agree with you i dont find hendrix AMAZING like everyone says.. yes he was innovative and was something new in his time but to say the best EVER is wrong because there is so much more

@boluvsjo You're a madman. Hendrix is the most technically gifted guitarist of all time. Also, you cannot place time as a factor in this. Hendrix died before he was thirty and STILL made his mark as the greatest. The guitarists you named are amazing and I love them for what they can do, but it's all Jimi at the top.

I dont think Hendrix is that good at all. King of REVERB. When you look at great guitarists, look at the length in time of their ability to continue to put out great music. Santana, Clapton, BB King....etc are great guitarists and great musicians, they have been around in the mainstream almost 50 years. The list is short to say the least. So when comparing great musicians, it all starts long ago. Guitarist of the last 25 years, it still yet to be seen, if they can be lumped into this group.
