Your explanation probably makes even more sense now that I've thought about it (the old rule about 'not having TWO roosters in the henhouse', lol). I mean Lenny Kravitz's debut was better received by comparison and it was just as far away from what was happening on the music scene then as 'NFNF' was! Now I can almost see why someone like Marc Anthony Thompson (aka Chocolate Genius) might've had trouble getting noticed on the Warner label when Prince was still top dog during that time...

Nah - I remember this; he took too long to compose it and then release it and he was being all pretentious whilst basically ripping off Prince's Parade album. I loved the album as well but publicity-wise he did go about it all the wrong way.
