I got a huge kick out of getting to blast off with the jetpack during a firefight and line up strafing runs on ground enemies, before swooping back into a battle on the ground

You're right, it was an absolute failure in terms of story, but you do have to admit that the gameplay and art design - along with whatever crude cobble of a plot it had - were kinda nice to have around. Generally - as you said - an unfinished game. Completely unfinished.

It wasn't just short, it felt flat out unfinished, like they were halfway through making the game with a ton more levels and a longer, more complex story, then release deadline reared its ugly head and they were forced to cut everything short. First there is the hinted dangers of the helmet the hero wears, that he is an 'Adept' but what does that even mean, the connection between the Watchers and the Nazis. It all gets brought up but never properly resolved and that bugs me.

Because although the game's art design and story were truly immaculate, it was short. Short in such a way that it left you wanting so much more. And unfortunately, it was missing a "real" ending - everything was left very open...
