Day 4 - Jazz (or, in my case, Ska)*Alarm Clock* *-The W's*The late 1990s were an interesting time to be a teenager listening to "christian" music. In a genre so packed with mediocre bands aping whatever was popular in "secular" music a year before, it was sometimes hard to find really good music that didn't all sound the same.Ska was an exception. The W's, Five Iron Frenzy, The O.C. Supertones... three great ska/punk bands. Relative to the size of the christian music industry, Ska bands were massive. I mean, people listened to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and the like in the general market, but it felt like you couldn't go to a youth group event without running into some other kid who listened to ska. I think we might have all grabbed onto it as that *different* thing that our parents would still let us get away with. The song I've linked to is just a fun little track from The W's. They only lasted two albums, but they made some good music. #14DaysOfMusicChallenge
