@jexplink Yes Pete and John had the voices. Voices of angels. But they needed a tough little sheet metal cutter out front in thet pre-Hendrix/Cream era they came from where front men in 'pop' didn't strum.Daltrey stopped playing guitar in band when the Stones found fame. I think the Who were very strange and powerful until 1969 and Daltrey became synonymous with Tommy character and could not be dispensed with - Townshend was stuck with him as a cash cow.
