I was very fortunate to have experienced those days. Traveling from Ohio toFlorida in the 1950's, before freeways. Stopping for gas in Georgia and learningthat the 16oz bottles in the machine were only 5 cents! In different years wedrove a 50 Ford, a 56 Ford and a 55 Chevy. Good times! The ball fields werefull of kids every day possible back then. TV was great, even in black and white!And the music...great stuff! I wanted to play guitar and when I heard The Ventureswith "Walk: Don't Run!", that was it! Amazing joy to actually play music withthe guys years later! You can catch our group The Pickniks on YouTube,playing our arrangement of Duane Eddy's "Ramrod" at The 2014 Ventures Fanfest.Plenty of influence from the 50's and 60's Rock-a-Billy and Surf type performers.
