This song calls -Mother Dear- It's recorded on my album Baby Love which is from 1966 or 1967. It's exported from Great Britain.

"Nothing But Heartaches" is much better and deserved to be promoted as the A side. As for it's alegedly painful lyrics, the My World Is Empty Without You text is bleak, but both songs were popular and did well. Their final charting positions could hardly be considered a failure.

I don't know why Motown passed on Mother Dear over Nothing But Heartaches. This is the way better song. Would have continued their hit streak, reaching the top 5 at least.

THE SUPREMES (Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson & Diane Ross) the originals & founding members of the still # 1 "Female Group" of all times in one of their early, fully harmonious collaborations!"The Girls"

Love to hear that story. In fact this was one of the first Supremes songs that helped me falling in love with the group. I still have this very happy, satisfying feeling when I hear that song, even though it's not a very happy song. It has just something magical, even if it was an album filler of the great More Hits By The Supremes album. It was meant to be released at a single but canceled.

Man, I give this five stars and a fav. I remember hearing this song a lot when I was a kid. This song got plenty of play in our neighborhood and everywhere you went. You heard this on somebody's record player. thanks for posting this dusty Motown jam! (I have the album)

No way. "Nothing But Heartaches" is much, much better song. Yes it was a shock to us, the Supremes fans, that the song didn't reach top ten. Probably it was much to innovative and progressive for its time. "My Dear" is what I call a pretty song, too much similiar to "Babay Love" and some other stuff associated with the group.

this song is a b= side if ever there was one. nothing but heartaches was and is fabtastic, Motown probably just didn't pay enough payola and decided to coast on the earlier sucesses. didnt work, once you pay off djs you have to keep the wheels greased.

@Individuell83 I have said the same thing- I believe this would have went to number one, instead of stopping the streak of hits, like 'Nothing But Heartaches' did. Love this song!

@RedRoosterRoad there's an alternate take of Nothing But Heartaches too, that I like better than the released one :)

Hindsight is a fantastic thing isn't it? Looking back we can all see this song has much more potential than 'Nothing But Heartaches.' This is my personal favorite of the two so I'm biased. What's everybody else opinion?

@nosiestink I know this was was 3 years ago but I need to comment. Nobody (well not many) deny Diana's importance in the group. Florence was so much more than just a background singer. I know that seems like a stupid thing to say but... I dunno. There's just something about her that's intriguing.

Even though it seems like the majority of the Supremes fans preferred Mother Dear over Nothing But Heartaches it was the latter of the two songs that went to # 11 on the national pop charts. Go figure.

@dvlaries Sad to say, "Time Changes Things," which already had been a single, was placed on the back of "Forever Came Today" as a wry comment on Florence being expelled from the group. There's been many attempts over the years to smooth over what Motown put her through, Berry in the later years saying he was prepared to record her a solo (after depriving her of using the name "Supremes" in any way, which is something Motown had no control over but poor Florence didn't know that)? Right.
