I was a hard core Suburbs groupie from 1981 thru 1988, and seen them play at few events in the 90s. Due to health reasons I cannot go to concerts and hear music played at a high volume, so unfortunately I have not been able to seen the Suburbs play at recent local events. =( Late summer in 2014. I was waiting for my hubby to get our car to pick me up, I was seated near the doorway of building I was in. I happened to see Beej. He walked past me, I thought damn that guy looks familiar. Beej walked over to the building directory on the wall on read it for a minute, then turn about and left the building. Beej has a face like no one else I've ever seen. That's why I recognized him so easily.

Great song, and hook...super creepy lyrics though. Seems a little molesty. Wasn't this song used on "Newton's Apple"

Wasn't there a slightly different video for this song that ran on Twin City Beat back in the early eighties?

Really liked this song from the mid 80s. WLIR in NY had it on their playlist. Looked hard but never found the 7" or 12" Ep. This is even rarer - Thanks for posting this!! Excellent!!

'80s Minneapolis: Husker Du, Replacements, Soul Asylum, and, of course, The 'Burbs. Then there's Prince, if that's your bag. Damn, we were spoiled.

@gluekbeeratyahoocom Answer: Because most bands today have tunnel-vision and push out garbage that the record companies tell them will make money. Just ask Blink 182.

Perhaps Arcade Fire's new and third album might be a tribute to them. And that is why they chose to call it 'The Suburbs".

Could someone explain the background of this song? Is it based on an actual event (creepy to be sure)? Where does the image come from on the cover of the 12"? It's a great song! I bought this when it came out. thanks for posting.
