if the roses never play atlanta, i can understand why. besides, that was a terrible performance and i don't blame mani for getting pissed. it was just bad and there was no reni. the roses are ian, squire, mani, and reni. anyone else in that band just ain't the roses.

i'm so glad this is posted..this was from the Midtown Music festival held at Piedmont Park..it was the first...and last..time the Stone Roses played in the USA (or so i'm told) They were fucked up from the git go..the crowd threw all kinds of shite at the stage..it was a shit show..

and people say that Bob Dylan can't sing - jesus, this makes Dylan sound like Presley - I mean, Dylan's voice at times was harsh or nasally, but he was always in tune, you could hear the words (which were pretty important) and he didn't embarrass himself on stage. Ian Brown - crazy - he is just a bad singer.

Mani's E string is out of tune. Wildly so. Ian Brown isn't really too bad on this compared to some of the other live stuff I've heard. Mani on the other hand, is all over the shop.

I was at this show. It's weird to think back how unexcited I was to see them. Almost like a small postscript so many years out from that incredible debut album. I don't hate the 2nd album, but it was a disappointment and surely had a lot to do with my disinterest in seeing them that day. Funny thing is, I think I'd be more excited to see them today after watching the Made In Stone doc. Time can change things for the good or the bad.

I was at this show. Truth be told, they sucked pretty bad. The band was merely going through the motions, and their drummer sucked compared to Reni. As I recall, they played some new songs that nobody in the audience knew, and they cut their set short and left the stage angry. My friends and I were pretty disappointed. Seeing Mani throwing his bass at 1:17 brings back memories. The show was more or less a disaster.

@STFCstoneroses Because I like the records and I just bought my T in the Park ticket so I'm checking their live stuff out. "Raw and Mancunian" - he should be good as well though, just because they're "indie" or they don't give a shit about sounding perfect (which I appreciate) doesn't mean he can get away with such poor singing. You mean the people who have blind love for The Stone Roses and can't get it in their heads that he's not good live? Okay then.

Mark E Smith can't "sing", but he's got one of greatest voices in music. Rather listen to these sort of singers than your Sinatra's or Jones.
