The Searchers are an English beat group, who emerged as part of the 1960s Merseybeat scene along with The Beatles, The Fourmost, The Merseybeats, The Swinging Blue Jeans, and Gerry & The Pacemakers.

The band's hits included a remake of the Drifters' 1961 hit, "Sweets for My Sweet"; remakes of Jackie DeShannon's "Needles and Pins" and "When You Walk In The Room"; an original song written for them, "Sugar and Spice"; The Orlons' "Don't Throw Your Love Away"; and a cover of The Clovers' "Love Potion No. 9". They were the second group from Liverpool, after the Beatles, to have a hit in the United States when "Needles and Pins" charted during the first week of March 1964.

It must have been hard to compete in this era; I mean the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan.

The sixties had the best music. So melodic. Even the minor bands and artists had to come up with an original melody.

Sounds a lot like The Byrds in my opinion... also Tom Petty and The ❤️ Breakers Have covered this song live.... Toms version is on YouTube as well ... he actually does a great cover of the song, I usually don’t like someone covering others music however Tom can do The Byrds sound... Feel a whole lot better Tom killed it... it’s those jangly 12 string Rickenbacker and the Vox AC-3O amplifiers... and raw talent...

notice their hair? This invasion of British groups would be the death of barbers... you had to go to a beauty salon (only woman up to this point went into beauty salons) to have your hair cut.. Barbers only knew clippers... Everyone who wanted to be cool grew their hair out...then in '67 hair would grow even longer with ponytails...because this is what was happening with musical groups..just look at Woodstock in '69 and see how the hair got longer..
