@CIAJISABEAST I completely agree! I think Ronnie got the worst of it..in the mansion and that :/ terrible

Phil was a damn weirdo lmfao but he was a genius when it came to music. Ronnie did a damn good job singing this. I can't imagine what she and his other artist went through dealing with Phil.

Totally. Its more organic and intuitive by the singer for the song... thanks for the understanding of this point that is sometimes missing in well produced music today.

the original double tracking is so much better, don't you agree? :)

ScriptWorker

the voice is doubled electronically which can sound a little phased out and produce an odd effect on the music track...

Phil Spector invented girl groups?? The Chantels, The Bobettes, were around nearly 10 years before Phil came along. Then of course we had The McGuire Sisters, Chordettes before them

ScriptWorker

Yeah, double tracking was to thicken up the sound. Common event. Now they use electronics phasing...

@mazdaishpahan It could be two seperate recordings of the same singer to make it sound less raw but not too false,..maybe? But not sure

this is strange. can anyone hear a second voice singing lead along with ronnie? maybe darlene or lala brooks? i've heard rumors that the lead vocal on he's a rebel is not only darlene love but lala's voice dubbed in as well. this reminds me of people saying that flo was singing lead with diana on "you keep me hanging on".

@CharlesBarry The lineup for that first season of Phil Spector girl groups was confusing. There was a group called The Blossoms with Darlene who I think was actually a backup group and that may have been the original Crystals. But he pretty much "invented" the whole girl group thing, though The Shirelles came first. I don't know why he didn't keep her in the Crystals, she was the greatest singer. Unless it had to do with Ronnie Spector.

@49kasey Hi, He's a rebel ( I think you know this ) Darlene ( Wright real name ) Love & her younger sister Edna Wright sang He's a rebel not the Crystals, Edna Wright was the lead singer for the group The Honey Cone, there big hit was Want Ads.
