Replacements ... Alex Chilton ...Uploader's notes below:This ain't no Rock Band 2 version. This 1987 video is just one of many reasons why we love the Replacements. Their 1985 major label contract required them to create videos to promote their albums. This, a band who came out with the sarcastic song "Seen Your Video" less than a year before. Snotty, irreverent, and stupid? Absolutely. This is rock & roll after all -- and the music industry we're talking about. So their videos were a big middle finger to it all. From MTV 2 and the album "Pleased to Meet Me", a late entry in their series of anti-establishment videos. (RIP Alex Chilton.) Curiously enough, this video is almost identical to one for another song from the album, "The Ledge," except it includes added cuts to make it longer. (MTV banned the video for The Ledge due to its lyrical references to suicide.)

I understand it's a "statement" video. It definitely says "we don't care about music videos." I like videos that say "Hi. This is our cool video that we worked really hard on!" It is an awesome song though.

The video is not meant to be at all. Did you not read the description? They were forced to shoot a video, and in Replacements fashion, fuck being told what to do, they made this.

25 years ago yesterday one of the great post-punk records of all-time "Pleased to Meet Me" by the #TheReplacements was released... man I wore that vinyl thin...While not the best Mats LP - For me it kind of put a final stamp on an incredible era of music... (and I just happened to have graduated high school) I don't think I have listened to any album more in my life and it still sounds as fresh as the day I unwrapped the plastic.
