I'm Not 100% sure but, I think this song is about the Civil War battle of Spotsylvania in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Listening to the song I can just feel the fear of a young soldier waiting in the dark rain for the battle.

Sorry the video doesn't do the song justice but, maybe the song will be enough to get you interested in Scott's music.

Scott Miller was lead man for the Vroys and his own band Scott Miller and the Commonweath and performs solo shows. This song was from a collection of solo performances called "Are You With Me"
