Waited twenty years to see the Police live and finally made it a few years back when they played in Belfast. It was well worth the wait as they were simply fabulous. Sting's voice as good as ever. Andy's guitar playing probably better now than it ever was but the most impressive out of the three for me was Copeland on the drums. Never seen a drummer like it and played with an eternal smile on his face.

I wonder how many people - from outside England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales - understand the basic premise of the monster in this song?Each verse touches on one or more aspects of modern human life: How the jobs we do, or the cars and other things we covet, amount in the end to no more than the destruction via pollution of the earth and, in the actual pursuit of these things, we end up hating ourselves and each other. After each verse, a couple of lines then mark the onward progress of the Loch Ness monster, as it firstly rises from the bottom of Loch Ness until finally its shadow falls on the door of the nearest human habitation available to it, ready to burst in and slay every occupant within. The underlying framework of the song is that man cannot expect to keep living like this, the soul-destroying pursuit of ultimately pointless material possessions, destroying the natural world with pollution in the process - and expect not to attract from nature a suitably devastating response. What goes around, comes around. *Synchronicity.*
