I understand what you mean now - I think. Nearly a hundred more clips lined up and ready to play. Don't touch that dial, as they say!

Hey again :-) Just to clarify, I was referring to that little 1/8 inch / 2-3 mm area just outside the lock groove where there appears to be two or three grooves right next to each other. That little detail is something I've seen on countless records from the '60s, but not on British records of the same period. Kind of a mystery (yes, I've always been fascinated by little obscure details like that!). Anyway, US pressings would probably be just as neat to you as UK ones are to me--keep on spinnin!

Hello matey. I recently discovered this great band and bought this off a guy in Oregon - my first transatlantic ebay deal!. As for the 'run off' grooves, I'm sure they're present on all vinyl records worldwide, even 78's. One things for sure, they were used to activate the automatic mechanism on 50's and 60's turntables to make the tone arm lift and return to its rest. The locked groove just stopped the stylus from ripping across the label on manual decks

So cool to see a US-pressed 45 on your channel :-) I too have to manually center 45s on my turntable because I still don't have an adapter. One eternal question you maybe can shed light on: this disc has that funny runout groove where it kinda stops a couple of seconds before it reaches the locked groove. Common on '60s records in the US but I rare on UK discs. I always wondered what the purpose/significance of that was. Any ideas? Thanks as always! --from a loyal American fan :-)
