The song was was written by John T Loudermilk. It' s a very simple country based song about catching and cooking and eating a "Google-Eye", .....which is a common term for any river fish.

total speculation, but pretty sure google (the company) got its name from the word googoplex, which is a really, really, REALLY big number. But I think these guys just mean google eye like the googly eyes you put on pop sickle sticks and sock puppets when you were a kid.
