Here is one of a few Moody Blues songs I plan on uploading, since I've recently become a big fan of their 65-68 period. Life's Not Life was last song preformed by the original Denny Laine line-up. Laine quit right after this song was recorded, and was replaced by Justin Hayward. This was a 45 withdrawn pretty soon after it was released (Cause Laine left the group (?)) It's a shame this didn't get the air time it deserved, as it's an amazing track.

Glad to find this on here! This song as well as several other unreleased songs will be out in a box set - The Magnificent Moodies 50th Anniversary - on 24 November. This is the original first moodies. Something you might want to look into!

In its historical context this is a nice and interesting song. You shouldn´t compare it to songs written years later, but rather to songs from earlier years. In the mid 60s we who were there understood that the Moodies had something going on, that eventually exploded into Days of future passed and six other fantastic albums in the following five years, as well as some extraordinary non-LP songs.

A forgettable, mediocre piece.

Ugly?! now there is a deep assessment...thank God these early musicians weren't subject to modern interprtations of talent...

An historical song. Denny Laine on the track of the style that a year later brought the Moodies to new heights, with Justin Heyward and John Lodge in the group. It's a real pity that this song didn't make it.

I too have an original UK Decca single of it. I wonder if it REALLY was withdrawn. Nobody cared, anyhow, and I doubt that Decca went to the trouble of paying for those few stock copies that sold to be returned.....

Blimey! And I thought I was the only person in the world with a vinyl copy of this single. If memory serves, the B side is called He Can Win It. I never knew why it was deleted so thanks for the info. Good to hear it again without having to trawl through my vinyl boxes.

Judging by the hair styles of everyone in that pic, this may be one of the last photos with the original band.
