This song is a blessing to those who know the Christ who helps us to shut out the devil in our daily lives. I learned this song as a child, taught this song to my children as well as my students (along with the meaning of Christ as our heart's keeper) and it proved a perfect edifier as we grew in Christ personally. It is not a hymn but, it is a lighthearted song for those who love the Lord. If you can't have fun as a Christian here on earth - what kind of example are we setting for those watching?

I think some of you are missing the message... it is just a cute song that is reminding us the devil is of the darkness ... shut the door to your heart and keep out the devil ...and Jesus is the Light (candle) the light will keep out the darkness... It may not be your traditional southern gospel...but some of these comments are not very nice ... this is not secular music... the devil is afraid of the LIGHT (candle) for Jesus is the LIGHT ... open your minds and ears to the words... I know it may not be your cup of tea as far as the beat of the music... The Martins are wonderful singers of the gospel and their harmony is second to none... God Bless
