I'ts simple. For the die hard fans it's not trippy, acidy enough compared to the previous album (it's the closest thing that could pass as pop prog rock they produces) and for the casual and radio fans it's still too "out there". Sometimes when you make an album trying o please all types of music listeners, you end up pleasing no one. As for me I think it,s their most "balanced effort and I like it enough that it ranks second in my favorite albums from them (after Frances the mute).
