On this day in 1958 {May 17th} Art and Dotty Todd performed "Chanson d' Amour" on the ABC-TV program 'The Dick Clark Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show'... One month earlier on April 14th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #6 and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100... Also in 1958 the Fontane Sisters recorded it; it reached #12... Nineteen years later in 1977 the Manhattan Transfer took their covered version to #1 in the U.K. and Australia... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}
