One of the best Jam songs. It says it all.

B-Side to Beat Surrender. Weller and The Jam released some of the best B-sides ever.

Recorded from original 45.

Was this Paul Weller or Bruce Foxton singing?

This proves beyond a doubt that splitting up The Jam to form The Style Council was all about cost cutting rather than something that had to be done to enable Weller to facilitate a change in artistic direction. All he needed to do was to make Mick Talbot a full time member of The Jam. Quite simply the best track that The Style Council (n)ever recorded and up there with anything The Jam ever did.

Yep, but then making it a hidden away B-side, makes it that even more special.

@wovokanarchy bloodsports- stones throw away- internationalists- paris match - speak like a child- solid bond in your heart- money go round- a man of great promise- walls come tubling down- shout ot the top- whole point of no return- heres one that got away-homebreakers- my ever changing moods- heavens above- headstart for happiness- cost of loving-******* all great tunes - some fine as is others just produced badly(cheesy)

@salvadory I can't say I agree with you on the Style Council. I still can't get through an entire album without laughing. The only contemporary blue eyed soul that I think clearly shows how it's supposed to be done is Remy Shand...sounds authentic.

@wovokanarchy i didnt mind the attempt actually and i liked some of the blue eyed soul stuff- it was just recorded and produced badly like most mid 80s music- i think his solo career has done it right- like no tears left to cry - writeen in the stars- wishing on a star cover- aim high etc- well produced earthy natural unlike alot of the council material- like i said theres atleast two 14-16 council songs i think are brilliant!

@salvadory Well Weller is not the only artist who has alienated their original fan base by changing their sound and musical direction. I think Weller took his fans for granted and took Steve Marriott's influence way over the top by trying to become ''black'' in all aspects of his life. I guess you would call him a ''wigger'' very much like the white hip hops artists today.

@wovokanarchy i think the jam could have pulled off alot of the council stuff ala this style and done it with the feel the good songwriting deserved _ i do think some council songs were wellers best work but they were executed badly- the sad thing is some of the council stuff is brilliant but let down by cheesy production bad synths etc(no offense to mick talbot whos a great musician)- weller is also to blame for trying to be modern and overly pop!
