Let's not forget the brilliance of Curtis Mayfield. To me, this isn't better, it's different. The original is 10 minutes long and includes long bongo solos and stuff. It was revolutionary when it came out.It seems so easy to forget that Weller didn't write this, he copied it. Still great, but give Mayfield props!

I think Paul's version is the best! The song's from a teenage view, as such this version with all its energy and urgency elevates the song past the original.
