Allan, looks a lovely person and what a gorgeous guy too. Wish I had heard them in concert, wouldn't be the same for me now without the wonderful, Allan xx

Check your statistics-the U.S. had over 11,000 murders nationwide last year. England had less than 600.If I had the money to be able to choose where to live I wouldn,t be here in the U.S..

How can someone be presented with a band as great and as interesting as the Hollies and ask such pointless and stupid questions?

@buildthis99: You make a good point here. He has every right to prefer another country's culture over another. But 50's and 60's Britain was obsessed with American culture. They copied our clothes our hairstyles and our music. They dreamed of owning big American cars. Shit, they even sang using American slang in their songs. They flocked to our movies. They danced our dance-moves. They were seduced by California culture. Why didn't Allan Clarke reject any of this in the 60's??? It's ridiculous.

@buildthis99: You're making a silly argument. America doesn't "love their goods". We hate the fact that our manufacturing has gone overseas. Politicians in D.C have forced our industry to move overseas by taxing them to death here. Americans HATE having everything made in China.

@buildthis99: If you defrost your brain and stop yodeling for a minute, maybe you'd understand my point. The "American way of life" is no different than yours or anybody else's. Criticizing it is an exercise in hypocrisy. Now go back to making cute little knives and chocolate.

@tomthefunky Chill out folks. He may have felt that way at the time but he lives in the USA now with his family and has done so pretty much since leaving The Hollies way back when.

@lyngoodwin: I know an anti-American jab when I hear one. What angers me about what he said is that he doesn't seem to realize the American "way of life" has provided the most opportunities to the most people in the history of the world. The average American wakes up every day, goes to a job, comes home, eats dinner, watches tv, and goes to bed. Just like everybody else in the world. A rock star is the last person that should criticize anyone's way of life. He's clearly an idiot.

He doesn't like the "American way of life", but I bet he loves our money. And if it wasn't for the "American way of life", there would be no rock and roll, and therefore, no Hollies. Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers may have been an influence on his music but they, unlike him, had manners. Never trust a man with a perm.
