From 1967 The Hollies with Graham Nash, Tony Hicks and Allan Clarke. Carrie Anne was written mainly by Graham Nash and Tony Hicks with Allan Clarke supplying the lyrics. Terrific melody, if somewhat mundane lyrics.

I'm a man and definetely not gay, but Tony Hicks must have been one of the best looking men of the 60's and 70's.

I bought this single and instantaneously became an Anglophile.Rock On.ps. I know - I'd already missed a lot. I made up for lost time, believe you me.pps. The other single I bought that day was 'Ode To Billie Joe' by Bobbie Gentry.-K.

Not really mundane lyrics considering that Graham wrote it about Marianne Faithful, but was too shy to call it "Marianne." If you take a look at her very complicated personal life the lyrics may take on more meaning for you. She was an absolute stunner and I am sure he was not the only guy who was fascinated by her but her life was a cluster, which may have been the source of "You've lost your charm as you are aging, where is your magic disappearing?"

The only time I noticed a 'Heart' shape for the 'O' in The Hollies written on the bass drum....cool...:-)
