The lyrics are of course "Braes of Balquhidder" by the Scottish poet Tannahill. Just several words changed in most of the song and the phrase "Braes of Balquhidder" replaced by "all go together" The rest is almost identical apart from the last verse that seems to be new. The tunes are similar though not the same. The McPeakes slapped a copyright on it but that is not the same as actually writing it. As far as I know Francis seemingly didn't even claim to have written it. He said he didn't know where it originated but it could be Scottish (which it is) but it was his family who copyrighted it.
