One of the best of The Guess Who. I always loved playing it during my Radio shows. It was ahead of its time.

One of the very best of The Guess Who.....Why does popular radio miss out on such tremendous melodies and lyrics..... loved this tune for 30+ years.....! Never will give the forget the lyrics! ..... Whatever happened to the images gone......yet worn-out phrases keep hanging on.......the broken faces... half with melting eyes! Our lives, our riddles, have so many twists and turns..... our desires and images are found out lost for a love of wealth or ego-wealth ...... and to late to be realized! The conversations seem to drouse and drone on...... with broken faces; do we realise what we give up to have what we want?

Great Canadian band indeed! Fantastically crafted song.A lot of credit must be given to their producer Jack Richardson who second mortgaged his house to get the band started after he discovered them in Winnipeg, Manitoba,Canada.I knew Jack from the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College in London,Ontario,Canada where he taught us.Jack produced 16 albums with The Guess Who.I remember bumping into Burton Cummings in an airport years ago as he was returning home to Winnipeg after a tour in Germany.I approached him for an autograph and he was more than willing to oblige.I then mentioned that I knew Jack Richardson and he immediately struck up a conversation about the lengthy time he and The Guess Who spent working together.Burton had nothing but good things to say about Jack as our conversation lasted for a good 30 minutes.Burton was a pleasure to talk to and I will never forget the experience.

First heard this in maybe 1989- '90. It's power kicked me in the ass and I never forgot it. I just did not know the title but two years a go I found the song again. Turned a lot of people onto it. . .

What he was referring to was the prisoner number of Jean Valjean, of Les Miserables fame: 46201.

If you love The Guess Who, you love this song! One of their best.

There are many sad overtones to this song-- the most overlooked is the fact that he dreams about living in 46201--- one of the worst ghettos in the State of Indiana.
