This song rings true in so many ways. When two people are first in love, every little thing they do for one another is noticed and appreciated (in a healthy relationship). After a while one or both individuals start to take the other for granted and slowly the love fades with time. Once the romance, endearment, respect, etc. fades it is almost over and nothing can repair it back to its previous and magnanimous state. Conversely, it is up to you on a day to day basis to continually refresh the relationship to make it spontaneous, interesting and meaningful. Where our love life ends up seems like a result of luck that happens too quick, but is really composed of many pieces and decisions that have been built up piece by piece over a period of time. The Grouch makes this piece truly resonate by inserting a piece at the end that reminds us that we are often caught up with making the outside world "appear" good when what matters most in our experience is coming to peace with our internal world and making each day a continuing refinement of skills, ambition, and most certainly love.

I just wanna say..youre my favorite artist because you tell stories. Music originated as a story telling method so its so great to have someone old fashioned in the music industry that isn't just making noise and choosing to share only the "idealistic" aspects of their lives. Thank you for telling stories and telling them truthfully so people struggling with similar battles know they're not alone. It helps me alot in my daily life and I just wanted to give a sincere thank you for keeping it real and keeping it real analog. Peace!
