Great version of a classic song. The one by the Liverpool Five is also excellent as is the version by the Monkees. I just plain like the song. We used to do this one in my old band. Stepping Stone is a true classic. Never goes out of style.

I truly love this version. It has a heavy guitar sound which almost boarders on a heavy metal sound. It beats out all other versions in my opinion.

Sounds real good...but it's like, they put more emphasis on the Singing Volume and were affraid to Crank-Up the Guitar when recording ...Why ?.....This would of been a KILLER SONG if they have done that !

@MermaidPrincess9 Never enough room on these things for my thoughts. I couldnt leave without just first off saying that i totally loved the FLies version of this great song. For my again my choice i love it when a band takes a song and makes it their own. That is exactly what these guys did they totally slowed down the tempo of the song and changed the arrangement and stuck as close to the original melody line as possible and for that i say Brilliant. Im singer, i make a cover song my own also.

Look its like this very simple thats why there is vanillia chocolate strawberry and rocky road and a gazilian other flavors to choose from. Its the same thing in music and all of the arts .. to each his own. .We all like different things for different reasons, it doesnt mean our choice is necessarily the best choice..it just means thats our own best choice for ourselves. Everyone has a right to choose the version they like but dont knock other peoples choices cause different than ours. Respect

Much better than the Monkees , Sex Pissers and Paul Revere. Now go check out on You Tube for the Liverpool Five's version...recorded before all the others in early 1966. In my humble opinion it's the best but make up your own mind after listening.

This is by far the best version of the Monkees "hit" and they were a fantastic live band as well. Their set at the '14 Technicolor dream ' at Alexandra Palace in London was a truly amazing experience!
