If you watch the fantastic 3 hour documentary on the Eagles you'll see why the original band members left and how the group's music changed dramatically. Frey and Henley did not want to be a country/rock band..they wanted to move on from those first few albums and they did. Hotel California changed everything. They also moved on to financial wealth nobody ever imagined. I say they are America's equivalent to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Only Fleetwood Mac's success can come close to that which has been achieved by the Eagles. They are the best!

I made a small mistake with my oldest brother's funeral. My nephew asked me for two songs that his father liked that he could play during the memorial. I suggested Warren Zevon's "Keep Me In Your heart" and Jackson Browne's "Of Missing Persons".All due respect to Jackson, whose music I loved(Thanks to my now deceased brother), I should have suggested this song.

At the times, I don't know about Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, and the Flying Burrito Brothers, I was too young. When you hear the voice you can hear the real pain of Bearnie Leadon. Well, the song is always noticed in many Gram Parson biographies and notes as a great tribute to Gram.

Shoeshineidaho.....I know exactly how you feel. I lost my father last September. I spent my entire life looking up to him. There is a huge void in my heart these days. He taught me everything I know. I am 56 years old. He passed from liver cancer. It was an agonizing death of 18 months. Although I don't play guitar or any other instrument it's ballads like this by the Eagles which you and I grew up with that strikes deep in our hearts. We were blessed to be part of a great generation of music.
