Doors albums still sell, and they broke the 100 million mark in sales some time ago--who would ever believe their music would last this long?

it is almost impossible to recapture the Doors today in a film--they were too unique and original. glad they did the music they did

People keep asking "what happened to rock?" and there's your first clue....artists from that era refused to compromise with the establishment. They will destroy your originality, crush your spirit, and make you their slave if you give in one inch.

Man I'd die laughing if he actually said "Bite my wire" on stage.

What gets me is that Will Jordan, who plays Ed Sullivan, was around 63 years old when they shot this scene. The real Sullivan was 66 in 1967. Yet, Jordan makes Sullivan look like he's embalmed. The make-up is horrendous.

He said "higher, yeah!"Even that wasn't acceptable? So much wrong in this movie.

Kilmer played a great Jim Morrison.....but obviously Oliver Stone embellished a lot in this movie....especially with regards to the Ed Sullivan incident....MoJoRisin never emphasized the word higher nor stared in the camera when he said it.....it's been a huge criticism in many of his films....reality vs distortion

What did you all think Oliver Stone would do? I mean just look at Platoon. Everybody is either a doper or a crazed killer. He just puts out garbage!

I always thought THE DOORS was a half-decent movie. Yes, it's absolutely drenched in Oliver Stone's drug-fueled cinematic overkill, something that was characteristic of his 1990s work. And, like this scene demonstrates, it had a fleeting connection to the actual story of the band. That said, it's still an entertaining biopic. Kilmer WAS Morrison, or at least the mythical Morrison that was conjured up after his death. I can't think of any other actor who could've pulled this off. Anyway, about the only things accurate about this filmed re-creation of the band's Sullivan appearance were:a) The band was asked to change the "higher" line. b) Morrison sang it anyway.c) Robby cracked a smile after Jim/Val sang "higher." You can catch a quick glimpse of Frank Whaley smiling on the monitor on the right at 2:39.Everything else in this scene is bullshit. Lol.

Honestly maybe Morrison would have actually done this, so in a way maybe he channeled his inner Jim. Pretty hilarious though i would have done the same.

They overdramatized the part where he says higher. In the real performance, it came out very casually.

Cause Jim wasn't suppose to say HIGHER!
