Friends threw me a surprise birthday party on my 16th birthday back in '78 and one of my gifts was Best of the Doobies album. I remember playing my favorite songs from that album during the party (China Grove, Black Water, etc,). Later that night, after everyone was gone and it was just me, alone with my thoughts, reflecting on what a great day it had been, I played this song for the first time and have loved it ever since. Each time I hear it now it reminds me of that night.
