I love this song so much! Has anyone else noticed that the string bridge in this has the same tune as 'Woman Of The World' from Casanova?

the 90s was a pretty depressing era with all the britpop nonsense blur oasis tony blair etc i would consider neil hannon to be a real musician that rises above all that shit at the time and to get the privilege of writing the theme tune to Father Ted and my lovely horse haha

I first heard this on John Peel around 1993 and yes this is one of their best songs!

Catherine Turner. That's her name in the credits. And in the "In Pursuit of Happiness" performance of the same concert Neil introduces her, but just by first name.

First heard this song, which introduced me to The Divine Comedy by the way... on a Freebie Hot Press CD years ago has been stuck in my mind ever since

lyrically, what a song.. Neil needs more recognition for his works and what he gets to reach with his music

I first heard this song just as I started studying the Nouvelle Vague. When I first heard that final scene in Breathless I was like "It's Hannon!". I also studied Alfie in the same year. Haha

Thanks for uploading, I love this song. Neil sings it beautifully here and is even better than the version on the album.
