this guitar work is awesome because the guitarist actually knows when NOT to play. Like, he plays just enough to lay down a really really sick and groovy rhythm and doesn't overdo it. That's surprisingly hard to find in modern metal.

I think its A flat. Listen to the open chords, they sound all dark and menacing. A is a major tuning and just doesn't come off that evil sounding.
