hurr hurr hurr. I got too many negative votes for my comments. I'll admit that I am using a standard Fender Strat, my first and only strat. BUT it surprisingly has an HSS setup and I usually keep it on the setting closer to the humbucker. But for whatever reason I enjoy the sound of the single Humbucker from A gibson les paul Melody Maker.

Ok, let me explain. I consider the sound you receive from single coils is too clear and dark. (Yes you can add efx and shit to a sound) I find humbuckers to have the fuzzy sound I look for. humbuckers add a more sophisticated sound than single coils. I had my bad first impression of single coils when I bought an HSS standard fender strat. The body was too heavy, and most of the time I had only the humbucker turned on. This is when I realized I disliked the tonal qualities of a single coil.

To be honest, I've never really much liked fenders. Single coils suck ass and the guitar is too heavy. Unless you get a lightweight cheap squire. I much prefer Gibsons and their HH setup models like SGs and Les Pauls. But ES models look way too damn big. humbuckers I really dig.
