They might have got the idea from Abbie Hoffman's 'Steal This Book' published in 1971 though it wouldn't be all that odd if they came up with it independently. But given The Coup's subject matter I'm sure they'd heard of that book before this album.

I had some sheepmason tell me that if I don't like freemasonry then I must not like many of our founding forefathers, since a lot of them were masons.
