The ace, deadpan comedy of the now deceased Colorblind James and his musical cohorts. John Peel did his best to spread the work about the genius of The Colorblind James Experience, but outside of the UK (including in the US) they remained pretty much total unknowns. And in the UK they had at best a cult following. 'A Different Bob' is vintage Colorblind James Experience. Enjoy.

Saw them somewhere like new Cross in east London in a small pub type venue. Great stuff. Have 3 albums including this one - both on vinyl and CD. Anyway, dance critters - I did.

I got into the CJE courtesy of John Peel. I took a few mates to their gig at Manchester Polytechnic and they all loved it – in fact pretty much anyone who listened to their albums liked them. So much so that these albums became the soundtrack for our trip to the World Cup in Italy 90.

Raising a bemused eyebrow at the outside world, these chaps spoke up for polka-rock loving, vibraphone enthused anti-muthafuckas the world over.437 of us at a conservative estimate.Let's rock, err,if you don't mind.

I was fortunate enough to see Chuck and the band many times here in Rochester. Our band (Personal Effects) played with them on dozens of gigs. I actually remember the first time they played this song- it killed us. Chuck's death at the young age of 55 (I think) was a huge loss for the Rochester music scene. Miss him.

I had the pleasure of seeing these 4 times when they toured these shores in around 89/90. Terrific live. Hit me with that vibrophone!

The first album (including this) did appear on cd. Its hard to find though. Ive had two copies both of which I sold for £50+ on ebay. I think it was only sold at gigs in the UK.

It's so so long ago, but I when I was a teenager I saw these guys play twice in London on their UK tour, as we must have heard a John Peel session, or maybe this record. Both times, we met them in the bar afterwards and Colorblind James and the band were very gracious to the gang of us. You can't find this album now, but it still sounds good.

Good work. Still dig out the Colorblind James albums from time to time. Did this album ever appear on CD?

@crushsatan I'm really kind of surprised that so many people around the world know this band, being that they're from Rochester NY, but I guess I forgot they toured Europe.

@crushsatan I used to have it off a Peel cassette but don't know what happened to it! Would love to hear it again.
