God I miss bad-ass rock stars. Maybe they'll come back one day. I doubt it. The dorks passing as "rock stars" today are so dorky that they make the word dork seem insufficient. Being familiar with the album-version, I would have assumed this song was too stuffed full of disco sound-effects to be performed so well straight-forwardly in the Clash's standard live four-piece configuration. This one of those rare situations in which I am actually pleased to have been completely and totally wrong.

The story I heard about Sandinista being a 3 record release was they were unhappy with their record deal and that was how many albums they owed the label thinking they could get out of it and go to Stiff Records where they could have gotten more artistic freedom.
