They did it as a joke, the term "breeders" is a supposed derogatory name for straight people.

I can hear the similarity with the lead guitar line, however, I heard that the lead line in Saints was written when Kelley was trying to learn Saints Go Marching In, and screwed it up, accidentally writing the hook to this song, hence it's called Saints (but that's just what I've heard).
