HRE-Vol.1 was a truly groundbreaking project for its day, fusing notable hip-hop emcees with real musicians. I wouldn't be surprised if ?uestlove of The Roots and Michael Franti of Spearhead had this album spinning 24/7 at the time of release. Damn shame the hip-hop movement didn't build upon this blueprint from '92 onward (save for those two artists I've already mentioned). Hope the Heavies come out with Vol. 2, someday. It's long overdue...
