I wouldn't call Pete a "shit drummer", but I do think that he didn't work out as well as Ringo did in the band. The EMI demo of "Love Me Do" proves that to me. at least.

@TheDiddlysquat Let's review some facts. The Beatles were considered the top band in Liverpool and in Hamburg, playing mostly covers (so you can't attribute the popularity to songwriting). You don't attain that success with shit drumming. Pete put in an INCREDIBLE amount of gig time with the band (possibly more stage hours than Ringo). You're not going to be a shit drummer if you play that much - and by all accounts, the Beatles were a well oiled machine when they got back from Hamburg.

Just wanted to note that - despite Pete being in so many of the photos - this was New Year's Eve 1962: Ringo had already been in the band for several months. (As if it weren't clear just from the energy level!)
