Autorom piesne bol Paul.Milostnú pieseň venoval svojej novej priateľke američanke Linde Eastman s ktorou sa zoznámil v roku 1967. Pri jej tvorbe nebol v študiu George Harrison.Nahrávanie začalo 16. septembra a skončilo o deň neskôr.Údajne trvalo 67 frekvencii než John, Paul a Ringo vytvorili základnú stopu milostnej piesne, ktorá splnila očakávania jej tvorcu. McCartney potom pridal svoj melodický vokál a skôr ako zahral odspieval svoj basgitarový part a ešte si našiel čas vytvoriť zasnenú pieseň Can You Take Me Back, ktorá sa objavila ako nedôveryhodná znelka medzi piesňami Cry Baby Cry a Revolution 9 na White Albume.V UK bol album v rebríčku 22 týždňov z toho 8 na vrchole a v USA 168 týždňov a 9 na vrchole od 14. decembra 1968.

I was at a bar one night and told the bartender I would write a song for her. I took my time and started writing this song down on a napkin. After about 30 minutes I showed it to her. Like most people, she was not familiar with this Beatles song. I won't go into details but it just impressed the hell out of her. heh heh
