Fabulous surf pioneers from Australia,The Atlantics stand before TV cameras while The Crusher wails in the background. Although it is stated that The Shadows were a major influence, The Atlantics were clearly edgier than most other surf groups of their day. This song is simply awesome!

Guys like you these days just don't get it do you...? These guys were REAL professional musos. They could REALLY play and looked absolutely fabulous dressed in their hand made suits. They stood out on stage! The energy pumping off their live performances had to be experienced to be believed. Boy bands and overnight sensations of today are pretty dull and boring in comparison.

Hey Xcorgi > It was a combination of things, but to answer your question simply, it was the manager's decision. But if you look at every big band, small band, jazz band, blues band, country band between the 20s and the 60s, you'll see everybody was wearing a suit or a uniform. It was something that gave them a sense of professionality and class. The formula is very simple, dress for success!

Like the music but why did everyone think you had to wear a fucking suit and tie to play in a band back then? It was just rediculous.

@lrd9999 I don't know that it's so strange. The music is too energetic to be called "pacific" and "The Indians" would create all sorts of wrong impressions. "Atlantic" unambiguously refers to an ocean, even if it is one that happens to be on the far side of the world.

@lrd9999 In the case of "The Pacifics", you are right! They were a band from Brisbane.

Seems like a strange name for a band from Australia. "The Pacifics" and "The Indians" must have already been taken.

Yeah, The Atlantics borrowed a lot of stuff from one song to another. Bombora, The Crusher and War of the Worlds all have similar guitar scales and drum parts. All that aside, what an amazing group for the times!

My mistake. This is just another song called "The Crusher", but not to be confused with the Nova's "Crusher". Killer Atlantic's style as always, and sounds like a section of "War of the Worlds".
