Before we get into the celebration part of such a great group of guys getting back together to perform a 3 song reunion set, with guest James Hunnicutt, we need to first remember and respect why they even stood on the same stage together in Bangor Maine on January 10th 2013. A very dear and close friend named Richard Laferte passed away at the young age of 31 just days prior to this, and he was a good friend to many, including the .357 String Band. Richard was a prominent member of the Farmageddon Records Family, and will forever be remembered as a gentle giant, a kindhearted person with more love to give than many will ever know. Richard was passionate about music his whole life, and he always made sure that his band friends had a place to stay, a meal to eat, a joint to smoke, and a comfortable place to be, even if just for a moment. Before Farmageddon Records even existed, it started with The .357 String Band, no one can deny that. This was an important band, they really took the new roots movement and kicked it into high gear, and it's unfortunate the band called it quits before they even reached their true potential.. but like Richard Laferte, sometimes the brightest stars burn out the fastest. Whatever the case may be, .357 will always be engraved in music history, and Richard Laferte will always be in our hearts, this one's for you buddy.
