This song to me is all about a mental argument in his head, He falls in love with a girl he know's it's unlikely he can have a deeper relationship with, he talks about how much he likes her (his heart talking) and the "She's got a boyfriend anyway" part to me is his brain saying to him, you've got no chance.Its a struggle of the heart leading the head. He even sings the "She's got a boyfriend anyway" louder in the CD version to emphasis its a dominating thought or argument. Towards the end of the song he starts to realize she is just a flirt and using him.
