The Free Design - an Establishment-friendly toe in hippie-dippy waters for those with families, kids, jobs.... My mom had a couple of their albums, along with Sarah Vaughn, The Carpenters and such. Even at 10 years old in 1970, I was aware her music collection was not "cool", informed as I was by Uncle Bobby (her little brother), my babysitter, etc. A listen to my friend's older brother's Black Sabbath record confirmed that the Free Design, Carpenters, Beatles etc. were gay, too.
