Listening to retro 60's stuff is about as cool as it was in the 60's listening to music from 50 years before that. You think the guys in the Beatles were listening to stuff from 1910? I doubt it. Everyone seems to compare bands like Temples and Tame Impala and so on to the likes of Pink Floyd and the Beatles, but I don't think that's fair. It makes music like this seem derivative, a mere mimicry of music legends. These artists, while clearly informed by the past, are something else entirely. Just as those legendary artists of the 60s and 70s were reacting and interacting with their world, these artists are interacting with our world now. This isn't "the Beatles crossed with Barrett-era Floyd and seasoned with Joplin and Jefferson Airplane" or whatever. This is Temples. And they are kicking ass.
