Song: Link In A Chain

Artist: Tar Babies

Album: No Contest

Year: 1988

Lyrics:

I wanna be a link in a chain

A chain where I can still be me

I ain't talkin' 'bout no chain gang

I'm talkin' 'bout a chain that's free

You know they say there's power in numbers

a chain will stand will a loose link will fall

we got to stand together sisters and brothers

'Cuz the evil in the world stands wall to wall

I can teach you you can teach me

What we need to be happy

I ain't talkin' 'bout no history

I'm talkin' 'bout a new reality

You know they say some things never change

They might be right but everything can rearrange

A little change here a little change there

We got to change what's goin' on upstairs

I ain't talkin' 'bout no funky hair style

I ain't talkin' 'bout no thriller surgery

I'm talkin' about running the miracle mile

I'm talkin' about a funky new reality

I wanna be a link in a chain

Free my brain from a room inside a vacuum jump on the train we're all the same

Also because this band fucking rocks and there's virtually nothing about or from them on the internets.

The mighty Tony Jarvis (Theophilus J, Paul Cebar and the Milwaukeeans, Charles Bradley, Treme) on vocals!!

I haven't heard this since 92'. I got this record in early 89' (I think). I MISSED THIS JAM! Excellent record. I'm gonna cover this.

In '83 the Big Boys just came off a tour and Tim Kerr said the Tar Babies were the best band the played with. I had never heard of them before that but then Fried Milk came out and it blew doors.

One of the best groove songs ever. Red Hot Chili who? They wish they had a pocket like this.
