this song reminds me of an ex-girlfriend i had dated for 3 years, after 2 years all she had to do was tell me she didn't love me anymore but she played mind games, cheated behind my back, i gave up my friends and almost my family!! i did everything to hold on to her, but what i was doing was trying to make someone like her love me in return, in the same way!! eventually we went our own ways. for me that was so hard to get over, time never heals wounds because of the memories that become scars that are a constant reminder of how much love can hurt.but lucky love does have a way of healing such wounds and scars of hurt and hate, from carrying all that pain it does start to heal, when you find that someone that's right for you, and helps you heal and forget the past love!when i started going out with my new girl, she was amazing and i told her the one thing i want is for her to be honest about our relationship and we would tell each other if love was fading or if one of us wasn't happy we would say something! we've had our ups and down but we still have that love like everyday is like the first day we fell for each other for the past 18 years!! so understanding this song is to understand that loving someone who doesn't love you back, doesn't mean that it's you, if you can't make them love you, its because they weren't honest enough to handle the love you were giving and thought it will always be there no matter what they did!as for my ex? a year into my new relationship, she ask to meet up, i accepted met up with her.she told me that she missed me and she hasn't been loved like how i loved her and that she regrets letting me go and that she still loves me!i looked at her, not with hate but with pity! i told her, the love she use to feel and miss from me, belongs to someone who actually loves me like i love them and that i feel loved unlike when i was with her!for a couple of months she tried to come back into my life and tell me how much she was hurting and that in her crazy-ass mind i still loved her.but i guess she didn't get the point that what she was doing to me was what i had done too her!! trying to make me love her, when i don't anymore!! the only difference is i was being honest to her face about how i felt and that i've moved on!!so for those who are going through what this song is about! if you can't make them love you! be with someone who will!much love!!
