Thirty five "some-odd years ago," I sneaked into the VFW in Greenville, Mississippi as a high-schooler to see Syl "Take Me to the River" Johnson perform...man, he drove the women in that joint wild. I was so fortunate to have grown up on the "Chitlin Circuit" to see and hear so many great entertainers.

I think is first hit was a song called "Sock It To Me." He was really "hot" back then. He is actually a much better Blues singer and R & B. He has an older brother (I think he's older) named Jimmie Johnson who is a great Blues singer. He's still around and still singing and playing the Blues. I haven't seen him in a live performance for many years now. But there are YouTube videos of him. Thanks for the info on Syl's daughter, I didn't know about her.
