@DorienLenaerts ik this is your opinion, but in terms of matching Todd's vocal range, Depp did not match it, while Cariou did. Depp can sing, but Cariou in my opinion fits Todd so perfectly.

Len Cariou is marvelous in this song, so full of emotion. No-one in all the productions I have seen or in the film has ever conveyed this song so well. Angela Lansbury is outstanding too. The original production has never been bettered. A masterpiece amongst Stephen Sondheim's many outstanding works.

Nothing bad against Depp, he did the roll well, and he is a surprisingly good singer. But, both he and Helena did NOT fit the rolls, they look and sound way to young and healthy for the rolls if you ask me. Len and Angela however, perfect, just plain perfect.

Les Miserable is having ensembles and I can guarantee that movie will be superior to Tim Burton's take on Sweeney Todd.

Johnny Depp can't sing, he did a great acting job but still... Also I can't stand how there are no ensembles in the movie.

Len Cariou's voice kind of reminds me of Sideshow Bob. XD Probably why it grew on me so quickly. Angela Lansbury's makes me laugh/cringe, though.

I love the chorus and they have some of the best melodies, however I agree with Tim Burton that it just wouldn't work in a film. It would look kind of silly and cheesy if people suddenly started singing and narrating the story in a film, it just wouldn't work.
